Organic Colors
Mostly monochromatic, hygge style focuses on soft whites and neutral colors while Japanese style embraces rich accents. Charcoal grey, greens, plums and blacks are a favorite in Japandi styled rooms.
Minimum Decor
Decorative items and accessories are not abundant in Scandinavian or Japanese design. Open and airy spaces place emphasis on quality not quantity. Both philosophies call for accessories that prioritize function over form. Scandinavian accents tend to focus on comfort such as plush rugs and throw pillows. Japanese accents tend to be utilitarian such as tubular vases and ceramics. Japandi style is a harmonious balance of both principles.
