Gift boxes are the chicest way to celebrate a special occasion whether it’s your best friends engagement, bridesmaid proposal, or a new baby! It’s like the traditional gift basket’s cooler, more sophisticated older sister.

When one of my best friends had a baby I wanted to put something together that was special and personal- not thoughtlessly picked off of a store shelf.

Simone LeBlanc  was my inspiration behind the wooden box. They are a Los Angeles based company that creates timeless gifts for modern giving. These boxes can run you an average of $200 so I got inspired to create my very own DIY version of these luxury boxes for a fraction of the cost.

I love gift boxes because you can literally throw a bunch of random stuff together and make it look effortlessly high end. This is my go-to hack when I’m having trouble finding that one perfect gift for that certain picky someone.

You can get as personal as you want with what you put in the box, the possibilities are endless! I wanted my friend Cilia to get as much use out of the items as possible so I kept it practical. I stuffed the box with an adorable plush pink bunny (her first stuffed animal), a muslin swaddle blanket, a cute striped jumpsuit, and a candle.

The real star of the show may have been the diaper cake though. ISN’T IT BEAUTIFUL?! I stumbled across it when I was shopping online at Honest, which is Jessica Alba’s wellness brand that I’m majorly obsessed with.

HOW TO RECREATE THIS DIY SIMONE LEBLANC NEWBORN GIFT BOX:

Gift Box or Basket

I went to Michaels and purchased this wood photo box and discarded the removable lid. You can use any kind of box for this but I liked the look of unfinished wood and my goal was to mimic the look of Simone LeBlanc.

To add personalization you can use wood block letters to spell out the recipients name which is a nice touch.

I dusted the letters with pink pearl powder and used hot glue to adhere the letters to the wood box.

Clothing

Etsy has so many precious baby boutiques where you can find the cutest jumpsuits, onesies, headbands, etc that you couldn’t find in stores.

For my friend’s baby box I picked out a striped jumpsuit that came with a matching headband.

Accessories

Mama’s can never be too prepared for a newborn, so accessories are super useful.

Think swaddle blankets, bottles, nursing pads, pacifier clips, burp cloths, teething rings, and all baby essentials.

Knits/Headbands

Baby bloomers, diaper covers, knitted hats, and headbands are all cute box stuffers!
